Keep essential skills familiar

CPR & AED
refresher training.

Use our core CPR, AED and BLS course to revisit your team’s skills, include new starters and discuss changes to your workplace arrangements.

A useful return to the essentials.

It can be a long time between training and a real emergency. A refresher gives your team a practical opportunity to revisit CPR and AED use, ask questions and review how your local response is organised.

Our refresher enquiry route books the same two-hour core course. Share the group’s previous training, the date of its last session and any topics you particularly want to revisit.

Returning colleagues

Give experienced delegates time to practise again and clarify anything they are less confident about.

New team members

Bring new starters into the session. No prior experience is required for the core course.

Different equipment

Tell us if your AED has changed so equipment familiarisation can be discussed.

New arrangements

Consider changes in staffing, building access, working hours or the location of your AED.

How often should you refresh?

The right frequency depends on staff roles, your organisation’s requirements and the training or qualification involved. HSE strongly recommends annual refresher training for workplace first aiders; that recommendation is distinct from a mandatory annual requirement.

Clinical settings can have more specific expectations. For example, Resuscitation Council UK recommends that dental staff update resuscitation knowledge and skills at least annually.

Read the HSE first aid FAQs and RCUK primary dental care standards. Tell us the standard your team needs to meet so the course scope can be checked.

Bring your previous training details.

  • The course your team last completed
  • The approximate date and number of delegates
  • Any certificate or renewal requirements
  • New starters and role-specific needs
  • Preferred dates and the location of your session
This course does not renew a separate FAW, EFAW, paediatric or clinical qualification. Ask us about the exact course and evidence required before making a booking.

Build your refresher plan.

Use our CPR and AED refresher planning guide to organise review dates, new starters and equipment changes. If you are comparing options, read how to choose training for your team.
