Course overview

Skills to help you act.

Our combined CPR, AED and basic life support session is designed for groups who want to feel more familiar with an emergency response. You do not need previous first aid or defibrillator training to attend.

We come to your premises, or an agreed alternative venue, so colleagues can learn together. The session combines explanation with practical learning and opportunities to ask questions.

Course scope: This is a focused CPR/AED/BLS course. It is separate from an Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification. Clinical, paediatric and other specialist requirements must be discussed before booking.
The course outline

What you’ll explore.

  1. Recognising the emergencyUnderstanding the signs that someone may need an immediate resuscitation response and considering safety at the scene.
  2. Getting help and working togetherDiscussing how to summon emergency assistance and how people nearby can help with the response.
  3. Cardiopulmonary resuscitationLearning about CPR and practising the core skills in an instructor-led setting.
  4. Using an automated external defibrillatorBecoming familiar with AED prompts, training pads and safe use of the equipment.
  5. Connecting CPR and AED useUnderstanding how these elements fit together when a team responds to a cardiac arrest.
  6. Your questions and workplace arrangementsDiscussing practical questions and connecting your learning with the equipment and arrangements at your location.

This outline describes learning topics, not emergency instructions. In a real emergency, call 999 and follow the call handler’s instructions.

Before you book

CPR, AED & BLS
course questions.

Check the course scope, included materials and arrangements for your team.

For planning advice specific to your setting, explore workplaces, sports clubs, dental practices, care homes, schools or construction sites.

Does this course include both CPR and defibrillator training?
Yes. The two-hour session brings CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) use and basic life support (BLS) together. Your group can practise the core skills and ask questions. See the full course outline.
Is basic life support training the same as First Aid at Work?
They have different scopes. This course focuses on CPR, AED use and basic life support; it does not award an Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work qualification. Use your organisation’s requirements to choose the right course. Our training selection guide explains what to check.
What certificate and materials are included?
The standard course includes certificates and an individual AED/BLS booklet. If you need specific assessment, clinical competencies, CPD documentation or evidence for a professional role, tell us before booking so suitability can be confirmed.
Can we include beginners and colleagues who need a refresher?
No previous experience is needed for the core course. Returning colleagues can use the same session to revisit their skills alongside new starters. Tell us about the group’s previous training and any required outcomes; see our refresher training details.
How do we arrange training for more than 15 people?
List how many people can attend together at each location and across each shift. Additional groups may need separate sessions. Use the multi-site and larger-team enquiry to discuss a practical schedule and quotation.
